About Thrivency

Connecting you to
community care

Our mission is to connect people to local wellness practitioners and wellness-focused businesses that empower the communities that need it most. Why do we do this?

Racial and ethnic minorities experience worse overall health outcomes. These disparities may stem from a variety of factors, including: economic determinants, education, environment, lower-quality care, inadequate access to care, inability to navigate the system, provider ignorance/bias and/or stress (source: Bahls, 2011. American Psychological Association
Patients who have experienced racial discrimination when seeking medical care may be more likely to seek complementary and alternative medicine (source: Science Direct)
Between 2002 - 2006, eliminating health disparities for racial minorities in the United States would have reduced direct medical care expenditures by $229.4 billion (source: Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies

Meet Cameron,
Founder of Thrivency

As a wellness enthusiast who landed in Charlotte, NC, I experienced firsthand both the richness of the city's wellness scene and the extra hurdles Black women face in finding culturally aligned practitioners and spaces. What began as my personal quest to discover inclusive wellness resources evolved into a larger mission: creating the platform I wish I'd had when I started my wellness journey.

With over a decade of experience in digital marketing and product development, combined with my training as an Integrative Health Coach at Duke Integrative Medicine, I stand at the intersection of wellness advocacy and digital innovation. This unique blend of expertise drives our platform's mission to seamlessly connect Black and Brown communities with wellness practitioners who understand their specific needs and experiences.

What is Thrivency?

Thrivency is a wellness media and technology platform, designed to connect more people with culturally competent care. Users can explore the Business Directory to find a curated list of local wellness experts, or Articles + Insights to discover wellness tips, industry trends, business profiles and personal reflections.

What type of businesses will I find in the Business Directory?

Our focus is on businesses that specialize in holistic care, wellness, and alternative medicine. Although we believe in a holistic approach, we are NOT against traditional medicine. In fact, we believe that better health and wellness outcomes can be achieved for individuals by creating a well-rounded care team using an evidenced-based approach that blends both traditional and holistic methods. If you are in search of traditional healthcare providers, we recommend checking out these resources: HUED, BlackDoctor.org, Healthcare for Hispanics, Health in her HUE

How do you vet practitioners or businesses listed on the Business Directory?

We only include businesses that have either a) received training or certifications from governing bodies of their respective discipline or b) are able to provide proof of sustained positive impact within the community. Learn more about our commitment to care here.
