Apple Watch Introduces AI-Powered Personal Training Coach

Apple Watch Introduces AI-Powered Personal Training Coach

Apple unveiled Workout Buddy, a new artificial intelligence feature coming to Apple Watch that's set to democratize personalized fitness coaching.

The AI-powered system analyzes individual workout patterns, including: heart rate data, pace, distance, and workout history to deliver real-time motivational coaching during exercise sessions. What makes this particularly compelling is the use of human-like voices from Apple Fitness+ instructors to motivate users. By doing so, the feature creates a more authentic coaching experience.

In Apple’s demo video, a woman runner begins a running workout on her Apple Watch and is immediately met with verbal encouragement. Later in the run, she receives updates about her pacing, which mile she just completed, and a congratulatory message about a fitness milestone she’s achieved for the year.

The technology processes all data privately on-device while providing personalized guidance that adapts to each person's unique fitness journey and goals. Take note, it will require an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone nearby while in use.

Set to launch with watchOS 26 later this year, Workout Buddy represents Apple's push toward democratizing health technology, making sophisticated fitness guidance available to anyone with an Apple Watch.
